Two North Carolina Sears Stores Among Top Finishers in EPA's Energy Star Battle of the Buildings Competition
ATLANTA – Sears Stores in Asheville and Hickory, N.C. were recognized this week by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of a top finishing team in the agency’s fifth-annual Energy Star Battle of the Buildings Competition. These stores—together with their teammates in Ohio and Maryland—competed as the team “Robinson’s Reducers” and cut their collective energy use by 14.1 percent by upgrading their lighting and installing remote energy monitoring systems
EPA Announces Availability of Clean Diesel Grants for Communities Across the Country/Local governments, tribal agencies and nonprofits can win grants up to $2.14 million
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing the availability of $13.5 million in grant funding to help governments and nonprofit organizations switch to cleaner diesel engines. Local governments, tribal agencies and nonprofits can win grants up to $2.14 million each. Eligible applicants include regional, state, local or tribal agencies, and port authorities with jurisdiction over transportation or air quality
PHILADELPHIA ( May 6, 2015) – A settlement between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Navy will help reduce potentially harmful discharges of ozone-depleting substances and ensure the safe storage and disposal of hazardous waste at the Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, where EPA alleges environmental violations occurred. Under the settlement, the Navy will pay an $83,900 penalty for violations of the Clean Air Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
